3) - Hawaii - Hawaii - Kona:
For thirty-six shots, huge mantas swooped by our upturned flashlights like models cavorting down a runway. I didn’t think it could get any better until my film ran out and my flashlight went dead. I turned on the model light and the mantas really got excited. They swooped over this light so closely the top of my head was sanded by their coarse bellies. Of course, if I had more film, I’d be shooting their tonsils, since their wide-open mouths passed right over the lens.
